Balham is one of those special places in London that has a confluence of histories and cultures all living in community with one another. The home I had the pleasure of photographing over the course of several and renovated by Cube, is located in the southwest part of the town, not far from Tooting Bec on a quiet terrace of Victorian houses. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a project that had a greater contrast from before to after construction and decoration. It also happened to be a house in which I’ve come closest to the kitchen of my own dreams in terms of colour, style and architecture. So many times homeowners choose a stark, contemporary kitchen which looks fabulous, but which doesn’t always coalesce with the rest of their period property. This house manages to avoid that trap — splendidly!!
