A Classic Spanish Love Tragedy

In July I had the great privilege of photographing the performance of Frederico Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding, played by the sixth form of La Sainte Union Catholic School as well as those of the neighbouring colleges of LaSWAP.  Apparently, Blood Wedding is as common in the Latin world of summer theatre as a Midsummer’s Night Dream is here in the UK, though I hasten to add — a dark drama of high emotion and little of the lighthearted humour of Shakespeare’s classic.  It really was an event photographer’s dream to capture such earnest and high quality performances from such young actors, all under the brilliant direction of drama teacher and my friend, Sarah O’Keefe whom I met through both our efforts for the People’s Vote campaign.
