It’s a curious phenomenon, I think, that great designs from vastly different eras in time can live together in harmony. Thus it is with Victorian houses in the UK and contemporary interior design and furnishings. But rather ironically, this doesn’t work in reverse; traditional furnishings rarely work in a glass box house. But a beautiful, spacious early 19th Century brick terrace with interior mouldings, high ceilings, parquet floors, monochrome tiles and stained glass windows will work with a bang-on-trend German kitchen and glass extension. It just does. Don’t believe me? Check out this beauty in West Hampstead — kitchen by the fantastic IPS Pronorm of Richmond.
